Max or Maxine Caulfield is the 18 year old protagonist of the game Life is Strange. The reluctant and shy girl is eager to become a photographer. To make that dream come true through, the talented girl has returned home to Arcadia Bay in Oregon with a scholarship to attend Blackwell Academy, a private school for 12th grade seniors.
- The first episode, Chrysalis, begins with Max and her schoolmates and a "typical" day at school. But this day is only a typical school day until Max discovers a totally new power - the power to bend time to her will. Most of all, she incidentally also saves Chloe's life, which is threatened by one of Max's classmates - Nathan Prescott. The player soon learns that a lot has changed in Chloe's life, too.
- In her room is a photo with Max and two friends, Fernando and Kristen on the Fremont Troll. They are just mentioned and were very drunk that day.

Max makes is mentioned by Chloe in her journal and then makes an appearance in the bonus episode Farewell.
