David Madsen is the stepfather of Chloe and the security guard at Blackwell Academy and a veteran. David hardly can handle the rebellious girl, and even if he seems to be a very stern man, with slightly paranoid tendencies - he also apparently has true feelings for Joyce and Chloe and tries to protect them. Chloe calls him a "tiny tool".
In Chrysalis[]
- Max's first contact with David is after the incident with Chloe and Nathan Prescott in the girls' lavatory, when he stops her during the fire alarm.
- Max can help her classmate, Kate Marsh, to get away from David, who is obviously harassing the girl.
- When Max is at Chloe's house, David will show up and quarrel with Chloe about the dope in her room. Max can then step in and "save" Chloe, if she claims the drugs belong to her.
- Max can find a Map of Blackwell Academy among David's things in the garage. He is planning to install a lot of security cameras around the campus. Max also can find photos of David, showing him in his army clothes as a security guard and his ID-card, which he wears as a security guard at Blackwell Academy. Aside from that, there is already a surveillance installation in Chloe's house.
- If Max is very nosy, she can find David's "files" which contain a bunch of strange photos showing Kate Marsh. (Watch out, the files will fall from a cabinet and into a puddle of gasoline!)
- There is a large store of food in the garage, as well - David seems to be a Doomsday prepper, since on his nightstand lies a copy of a book about the "Apocalypse".
- Max can also find a family photo showing David and a very happy Joyce - while Chloe reluctantly appears behind them wearing a sad expression.
- During her house exploration, Max can listen to the answering machine which has a message from David on it. He sounds very concerned and warns Chloe.
- One also can find his dog tag somewhere in the house.
- In the last scene, David is on a ladder in front of the house (probably installing more cameras), when he notices the snowflakes.
